Stearns County-St Cloud MN is seeking qualified candidates. To fill the position of Environmental Specialist, Subsurface Sewage Treatment System (SSTS)/Ordinance Compliance Coordinator

Position Description: 

Starting: $28.4237/hour (2021 Rate)
Full Range: $28.4237- $41.7173/hour (2021 Rates)

Position Objective
To assist with implementing and administering the ordinances and laws associated with subsurface sewage treatment systems (SSTS); land use, planning and zoning.  This position is responsible for implementing the County's individual sewage treatment system ordinance, the Comprehensive Plan, and the Local Water Management Plan, as well as overseeing the coordination of corrective compliance enforcement actions for the department necessary to allow properties to come into compliance with the various State and County ordinances and laws.

Position Requirements: 

Minimum Qualifications
In order to be considered for this position, applicants must possess the following:

Bachelor's Degree or higher in geography, planning, urban studies, environmental studies, public health, physical science, biological science, or similar field
Must possess a valid Minnesota Drivers License or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
Reliable transportation to travel to multiple locations around Stearns County, some of which may not be accessible by public transportation
Must possess the ability to obtain certification by the State of Minnesota of Employment as a Septic System Basic Inspector within two years of employment. Intermediate Inspector within 3 years and Advanced Inspector within 5 years
Must have experience using a personal computer

Preferred Experience Beyond Minimum Qualifications:

Current certification as an SSTS professional with the MPCA with previous private or public work experience; experience in enforcing State and local regulations
Experience in ordinance development; retrieving, maintaining and tracking information in an electronic database
Familiarity in using Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Dynamic Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
