This year’s recipient of the Northstar Scholarship is Madison Swenson. Madison is pursuing her Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Public Health from University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire. Madison is expected to graduate this coming May.

 

Madison is interested in the field of Emergency Response and Disaster relief. Madison has already contributing to the Environmental Health field by conducting research on the sanitation of float tanks and the implications of frac-sand mining on drinking water. Madison has spent a summer as an Environmental Health intern for the Barron County Public Health Department along with presenting to at our 2020 Winter MEHA conference and serving as the President of the Student National Environmental Health Association at UWEC.

 

Madison was highly recommended for this scholarship by Dr. Laura Suppes professor at the UWEC and MEHA member who described her as “bright, ambitious, and a great problem solver”.

 

Madison is and will continue to be a leader in the field of Environmental Health. The Northstar Scholarship is well deserved.
