Job Summary

As manager of a section of the Environmental Health Division, this position directs statewide prevention and protection activities. The manager leads a statewide system for the implementation of statutes and rules for the food, pools and lodging program. Activities including providing technical and scientific expertise, maintaining and enforcing rules and statutes, developing and implementing policies, responding to emergencies, analyzing hazards and risk factors, administering fiscal and personnel activities, and evaluating and assessing programs.

Position Requirements: 

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s or advanced degree in public health or related AND three years of progressive leadership responsibilities as a manager or supervisor; OR

Bachelor’s degree in public health or related AND five years of progressive leadership responsibilities as a manager or supervisor

Experience must also include the following:

Must be a registered sanitarian

Superior human relations skill

Management skills, including supervision

Leadership skills

High level decision-making abilities

Preferred Qualifications

An advanced or terminal degree will be considered an asset

Experience in an environmental public health leadership position

Background managing a state wide food safety program

Experience managing multiple overlapping projects that engage a variety of stakeholders

Ability to manage policy and budget development through the legislative process

Additional Requirements

Must successfully pass a background check

Must possess a valid Class D driver's license
