Legislative Committee
The MEHA Policy and Procedure manual directs the MEHA Legislative Committee to act as a liaison between the Association and the state legislature. In that role we work to keep our legislators aware of the Association, to keep our members informed about the legislative process, and to provide members with names and methods to contact their individual representative and senator.
This committee acts as a liaison between MEHA and the Minnesota State Legislature. Typical activities include: providing a resource for environmental health issues, tracking environmental health legislation, informing MEHA members about legislative proposals and bill status, and encouraging MEHA members to participate in the legislative process.
In the past, the committee has successfully mobilized members to react to bills, and this action created a new awareness of our Association within the state legislature. We encourage you as a MEHA member to contact your state representative and senator, inform them of your profession, and offer to connect them with experts in the field when they have questions. MEHA has prepared a Sample Letter that you may share with your legislators.
If you would like to join the MEHA Legislative Committee, please contact the committee chair.

How to Find Bills
You can find the lists of House and Senate bills introduced each day the Congress is in session from the MN State Legislature homepage.
On the left side of the homepage you can find pages for both the Minnesota House and Senate. Each bill that is introduced in one branch of the Congress has a companion bill introduced in the other branch.
Here are two ways to find bills:
- Search bills by date of introduction, author, topic, committee, or action on the MN State Legislature homepage
- Browse through all bills introduced on a day, scanning for key-words. Go to House Bill Introductions and Senate Bill Introductions for PDF or web listings of bills introduced by day.
How can I find out who represents me?
- Go to the MN State Legislature Homepage
- Enter your address in the House of Representatives or Senate search boxes under “Who Represents Me?”.
