University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire is seeking qualified candidates to fill the following position Assistant Professor.

Position Description:

POSITION:

A tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor is available in the Department of Public Health and Environmental Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences. The department seeks a candidate with expertise in public health committed to teaching excellence and maintaining an active research and service program. This appointment carries an initial two-year probationary appointment beginning with the 2025/2026 academic year.

DUTIES:

Develop and teach a variety of graduate and undergraduate public health courses as needed.
Establish a program of scholarship that includes student collaborators.
Contribute to programmatic operations, departmental efforts, and broader faculty governance activities.
Promote student development and academic achievement through advising, mentoring, and service projects.
Collaborate with faculty, students, and community partners from a wide range of cultural, academic, and professional backgrounds
Actively participate in relevant public health organizations.

DEPARTMENT:

The Department of Public Health and Environmental Studies has five full-time faculty and is home to the Master of Public Health and two undergraduate majors –Environmental Public Health and Public Health — as well as three minors (Environment, Society and Culture; Environmental Science; and Public Health) and two certificates (undergraduate certificate in Sustainability and Climate Action, graduate certificate in Public Health).

Position Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Earned doctorate in public health or related discipline with an earned MPH. ABD applicants may be considered but must complete the terminal degree by August 17, 2025.
Demonstrated potential to teach undergraduate and graduate public health courses in both online and campus-based settings.
Demonstrated potential for establishing a program of scholarship and publication.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience teaching a broad range of undergraduate and graduate students using high-impact practices.
Experience developing competency-based online and campus-based courses.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of CEPH accreditation standards.
Experience mentoring and/or advising students in their academic and career development.
Experience working in public health.
Demonstrated commitment to values of accessibility, equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
